  1. oh yay, you’ve gotten to the “scare the sh*t out of the undergrads that there are germs everywhere” portion of the micro class. Good times!

  2. This reminds me of the “marine snow” nutrient resource you learn about in Marine Ecology. It’s supposed to be gross, but the notion of all that fish feces and decomposing bits and other bits slowly drifting down to the abyssal plain while zooplankton picks it out like fruit in jello is always a really relaxing mental image for me.

  3. It’s cool stuff. Environmental resource cycling is deeply pleasing.
