Microbial Bioremediation

Last week was spent putting the finishing touches on, tearing down, and re-finishing my slides on microbial bioremediation. It was pretty fun, and the first presentation I’ve prepared in a while. I was pleasantly surprised by how much I ended up learning about topic I felt pretty solid on (well, solid enough for a 15 slide deck). The next time I want to get a firm grip on a topic, I’m going to remember that helping someone else learn something is a great way to do so.
Since I still am learning, there may be mistakes here, so don’t take it as the gospel, and if you do catch me in an error, please, please let me know.
(also available in pptx and a partially braindead ppt, if you need it)

Did you give it in front of the class? Those slides are too high level for an undergraduate sophomore level class.
“I’m going to remember that helping someone else learn something is a great way to do so.”
You have no idea! But remember how long it took you to do those slides? Now imagine having to do a 50 minute slide presentation, 5 days a week.

Nah, it wasn’t a presentation, it was directly submitted to the prof. All the submissions are viewable by the class for critiques, but that portion of the grade is based on us performing the critques, not on the critiques our slides get.
That’s all dumb luck, though. I failed to consider my audience and managed to avoid getting bitten.
I’d probably have simpler slides if I knew I’d be speaking while they were being presented.
It took forever, and I have even more respect for people who have to prep course material. Of course, you get to recycle it every 4-5 months.

True, can’t wait for the recycling to happen!
Actually, if those slides were for reading only, they were really really well done. Good for an online class!
